DAY

In Miami, poolside dining is practically a sport. Start with lunch at La Côte at the Fontainebleau, and afterwards head to the hotel’s Lapis Spa, which Martha Stewart called the most beautiful spa in America. After your treatment—try a detoxifying body scrub or hydrating facial—immerse yourself in the mineral pools and eucalyptus steam bath.

Emerge feeling like a new person and take a ten minute drive south to Lincoln Road Mall to stroll the promenade and pop into shops, boutiques and art galleries.

For a fresh beach-front perspective, head a few miles north to the chic Surf Club Restaurant, Thomas Keller’s first foray into Florida inside the Four Seasons. Order a seafood tower with freshly-shucked oysters, and don’t miss the avocado and garden vegetable Louis, the chef’s take on the nostalgic crab dish.

EVENING

Cap off the night back at the Fontainebleau with a visit to LIV Miami for a taste of the DJ-fueled, over-the-top Miami nightlife scene.

MORNING

Set on the Biscayne Bay, La Mar, the contemporary Peruvian restaurant at the Mandarin Oriental is actually a perfectly lovely, family-friendly spot for brunch. Kids get coloring books and plenty of open space, while parents get stunning Miami skyline views and stellar cocktails.

DAY

Next up, head north to the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science to check out the three-level aquarium, and afterwards, make a worthwhile detour to Monkey Jungle to wander around the 30-acre zoological park and encounter some of the 300 resident primates.

EVENING

For dinner, try Time Out Market Miami, where everyone in the family can get exactly what they want—from burgers to arepas and Cuban coffee—from among the 18 eateries inside. Stay at the waterfront Acqualina Resort, home to a roster of kid-friendly activities and the complimentary kids club for ages five to 12.

MORNING

Start with a lobster benedict and Champagne brunch at Seaspice, the snug, open-air brasserie overlooking the Miami River.

DAY

Take a leisurely drive about ten miles south to Coral Gables to visit the Fairchild Tropical Garden, the 83-acre oasis of lush, tropical plants. Stroll the gardens, and don’t miss the tropical flowers and butterfly conservatory. Head back north to see the Rubell Museum—a dazzling private collection of thousands of contemporary works by artists like Keith Haring, Kehinde Wiley, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. Dine alfresco at the museum’s restaurant Leku, which serves Basque cuisine with a backdrop of the garden.
